Do your children like to brush their teeth? My son doesn’t fight me too much on the whole tooth brushing issue, but it can be tricky to get him to brush for the full 60 seconds that dentists recommend.

If you’re having similar troubles with your child, GUM has several toothbrush designs that light up on a 60 second timer to create a visual reminder of the proper brushing time. My son really likes the Star Wars light saber toothbrushes, but there are colorful Crayola toothbrushes available as well.

The GUM light up toothbrushes have soft bristles so they won’t aggravate sensitive gums. Batteries are included and the timer is easy to activate by pushing a button on the front of the toothbrush.

The first few times he used it, my son thought it was hysterical that the light up end of the toothbrush made the inside of his mouth look like it was glowing bright red.

With the holidays fast approaching, I’d like to point out that toothbrushes with fun designs make great Christmas stocking stuffers. Santa always leaves my son practical things like a new toothbrush, some flavored toothpaste, or shampoo with his favorite cartoon character on the bottle instead of filling up the stocking with sugary candy or useless trinkets that will be tossed aside in a week.

If you have a lot of kids to buy for, practical stocking stuffers also help keep costs in line because they are things you’d normally purchase anyway.

What do you think of GUM’s latest toothbrush designs? Would they be helpful in motivating your kids to brush their teeth?
