There is an extra-adorable baby with very warm feet in your (or a friend’s) future. These handmade fortune cookie booties from Uncommon Goods, designed for babies aged six to 12 months, are made from fleece, so they’ll be especially toasty on those little toes. They’re also machine wash and machine dry, so they’re not going to be bad luck for you if you buy a pair or receive them as a gift.

The fortunes say, “From small beginnings come great things” and, “An amazing adventure awaits you.” I wish I had seen these when my daughter was small enough to wear them. Call me a total sap (and I am these days, thanks to having a kid), but I love messages like this on baby clothes and accessories.

They’re much better than, “Diva in Training” or some of the other more scandalous sayings, but I also think it would be nice if the company allowed customers to customize the fortunes, in case there’s a special message they want to give to the baby (and parents).

There’s also another plus: floor-gripping soles, so when your little one does start to walk, he or she won’t slip as easily as they might in regular socks. The reviews are very positive overall and say that they’re easy to slip onto babies’ feet and that they’re well-made.

I would love to give them as a gift; I feel like they’d be one of the most unusual (or “uncommon”—haha) gifts at a shower. Now if only someone I know would have a baby…
