Get Your Kids a Butterfly In A Jar (But It’s Not Real!)
My 3 year old loves butterflies, and every time he sees one, he asks if we can catch it and keep it. My answer is always no because I have no idea what butterflies eat, and I have no idea how to care for a butterfly.
Sure I could Google “how to care for a butterfly”, but really, the last thing I need is one more thing to take care of. And that’s where My Butterfly In a Jar comes in.
I don’t have to take care of it and worry about keeping it alive! Just tap the lid and the “butterfly” flies around. And from the pictures and the video, it looks amazingly like the real thing.
If your child taps once, the butterfly wakes up. Two taps will make it flutter and three taps will make it flap around the glass bottle. The butterfly is also activated by noise and music. There’s no need to worry about remembering to turn the butterfly off – the batteries last in standby mode for months.
The butterflies can be purchased from four options including the Monarch, Yellow Swallowtail, Pink Morpho and the Blue morpho. You can purchase them in a glass or plastic jar. Of course, with three kids under the age of four, I would purchase a plastic one. They cost $14.99 (plus shipping and handling) if purchased through the site, which seems like a bargain to me.
When you check out the site, don’t forget to watch the video of the butterfly in action on the home page…it’s amazing how real it looks!
So what do you think? Would you purchase a fake (but lifelike!) butterfly in a jar?
