The Furry Friend App was introduced to me through our Early Intervention team that works with our twins on language development and fine motor skills.

They have started working with the girls on the iPad using various applications that require them to interact with characters, using their voices as well as their hands to make certain actions happen – all in an effort to further develop their vocabulary and fine motor skills.

The Furry Friend App does just that.

Meet Lenord, your blue, nearly toothless furry friend. He mimics everything that you say and lets you pop all his balloons and bubbles without getting upset about it. It’s a two year-old’s dream and our twins love it!

We use it to work on specific words as well as commands and taking turns, because when you’re two, the taking turns situation needs some heavy work…just sayin’. Additionally, we have the twins work on fine motor control by pointing and popping the balloons and bubbles.

What I love about this is, we’re working on important skills that they are in need of some additional work on, while having fun. Working on the iPad (or a similar tablet) with an app is a fun and modern way to continue working on their individual speech and fine motor development goals, and it’s something I highly recommend.

What apps have you found that work well for your toddlers?
