My son, like many kids, loves to snack. It seems like he’s forever asking for food to nibble on throughout the day and I’m always looking for new snack ideas for him. He likes dried fruit, but we’ve often found that many brands have a Styrofoam like texture and maintain little of the actual fruit taste he prefers.
Funky Monkey Snacks, however, have managed to successfully combine the taste of fresh fruit with the convenience of dried fruit to make a crunchy popcorn-like snack with strong kid appeal.
There are multiple flavors of Funky Monkey snacks for your family to enjoy:
- Applemon (Freeze-Dried Apple and Organic Cinnamon)
- Bananamon (Freeze-Dried Organic Banana and Organic Cinnamon)
- Carnaval Mix (Freeze-Dried Organic Banana, Pineapple, Apple and Papaya)
- JiveALime (Freeze-Dried Pineapple and Lime Juice)
- MangOJ (Freeze-Dried Mango and Orange Juice)
- Pink Pineapple (Freeze-Dried Pineapple and Guava)
- Purple Funk (Freeze-Dried Organic Banana and Organic Açai)
Of all the flavors, my family’s hands-down favorite was the Pink Pineapple. We loved the crunchy texture and the fact that the flavor of the pineapple really came through.
Some of the dried fruit snacks we’ve tried in the past have been bland and tasteless, but this was definitely a snack we’d reach for again. It’s sweet, satisfying, and so much healthier than a bag of chips.
Funky Monkey snacks are packaged in either one ounce or 0.42 ounce bags, making them a great size for traveling or tucking into school lunch boxes. However, I also think they’re good to add to a homemade trail mix. We often combine dried fruit with various blends of nuts and cereal or popcorn to make our homemade trail mix.
The entire line of Funky Monkey dried fruit snacks is wheat-free, dairy-free, peanut-free, and gluten-free with no added sugars, colors, flavors, or preservatives. They are available nationwide or can be ordered online through retailers like Amazon.com and Drugstore.com.
