Fruit Ninja Is Fun for the Whole Family

After about six months of begging, my son received the Xbox Kinect sensor for Christmas. We’ve since tried several games for it. While the concept of the Kinect is great, many of the games have controls that are very hard for young children to use. However, Fruit Ninja seems to be a notable exception.

The Fruit Ninja game is a download that comes with many of the Xbox Kinect bundles you can find online, or in stores like Walmart and Target. The concept of the game is very simple. Players simply wave their hands around to chop as much fruit as they can in the amount of time that is allotted, without hitting any of the bombs that will cause them to lose points. The game does a good job of encouraging kids to pull out their best ninja moves, but can be played even if you don’t feel like jumping all over the room.

Each round of Fruit Ninja only takes a few minutes to complete, which is good because the game is more of a workout than you’d expect. It’s great for parties because you don’t need to be an avid gamer in order to understand how to play. My son has just as much fun playing Fruit Ninja with grandpa and grandma as he does with his friends.

Like other Kinect games, Fruit Ninja does require a lot of space to play. You’ll want to make sure furniture and any breakable items are moved far away from the game area to prevent any injuries or accidents.

Has your family played the Fruit Ninja game? If so, tell us what you think!
