Putting puzzles together is a wonderful activity to help your child develop fine motor skills, critical thinking skills, and logical reasoning skills. Putting together puzzles also helps to teach patience and persistence – two traits that will serve your child well throughout his life.
You can find puzzles in pretty much any store that sells toys for children, but finding high quality puzzles for youngsters is difficult. When my son was younger, he had the terrible habit of trying to force cardboard puzzle pieces together. Of course, this would result in the pieces getting ripped or bent. Then, the puzzle was useless.
Wooden puzzles eliminate the issue of deformed pieces entirely because they are so sturdy. This makes them ideal for teaching a child how to put together puzzles.
If you want to buy puzzles for your son or daughter, I suggest checking out The Puzzled One. This Etsy shop is filled with beautiful handmade wooden puzzles in popular children’s motifs as well as a number of colorful mandala puzzles.
Of all the puzzles in The Puzzled One’s Etsy shop, my favorite is the mandala puzzle pictured in this post. The “Sunshine Blossom” pattern is something I can see wanting to display as a decorative home accent after your child has moved on to more complicated puzzles.
The Puzzled One is owned by Jeannette Aragon from Canoga Park, California. She’s been active on Etsy since January 2009 and maintains a 100% positive feedback rating. Jeannette adds new puzzles to her store every month, so fans are encouraged to visit often to see what is new.
