EIO Kids Cup: A “New” Old-Fashioned Kids Cup

My biggest gripe with sippy cups is the stuff that gets stuck in the spout – which comes only second to the fact that not all spouts act alike, so the baby is really only learning to drink from one type of cup.

The EIO Kids Cup solves that problem with a rather simple solution: ditch the spout.

By taking a basic glass canning jar and designing a BPA-free, twist-on, spill-resistant cap, those learning to drink will master the art of sipping, rather than continuing to suck as they do with a bottle; a big bonus for proper oral development. In addition, the simple design means no “gunk” getting stuck in a spout, meaning it’s easy to clean. And since the lid fits a glass canning jar, you can simply throw the cup in the dishwasher and put the cap on a new jar – easy as pie.

I love the design of this cup, but for children who have not yet used to a cup without handles, it may take a bit of time for them to master drinking from it. With that said, the silicone sleeve provides a great gripper for the kids. The only other downside? The EIO Kids Cup is not yet widely available, which isn’t a bad thing, it just means you have to be lucky enough to live in an area that has a retail location selling it, or you can purchase it online from a variety of retailers.

Mix and match the colored lids and sleeves, available in green, purple, and orange, each set (which includes a cup) retails for $15.95.

Somebody was thinking with this product! Love the idea of weaning small children off those sippy cups, which served their purpose but moms and kids hang on to them way longer than necessary. Terrific concept.

My only concern is the strong urge kids have to drop and chuck their cups all over the place, as they have often had the freedom of doing with a sippy. If the canning jars are glass, which I believe they are, I don’t see how the rubber grip would prevent breakage when the glass is dropped.

My kids are just at the age where they need to drink from cups already and they wont take no baby stuff. This habit of thiers gets me more orange juice and milk on the floor than I care to wash up. So this cup seems to be a great solution. I hope i can make it sound Mature.
