If you’ve been reading Smart Mom Picks for awhile now, you know that I like sharing green products, services and sites that I find. I like being able to “go green” whenever I can, especially when it’s affordable or makes my life easier. These days being green is easy, and it can also by stylish. So when somebody mentioned EcoFirstArt to me, I thought I’d check it out.

EcoFirstArt features eco-friendly fine art, furniture, jewelry, accessories and apparel. The pieces are created from items such as reused products, recycled materials, and ecologically sustainable resources. Sounds great, right? Well, when they say “fine” they really mean fine. As in not affordable to me or anybody else that I know!

In EcoFirstArt’s defense, they do say in their About Us section: “People sometimes believe that ecologically friendly items cannot be luxurious or that they lack artistic value…This site was designed with architects, interior designers, and clients in mind to help connect them to these artists and their beautiful creations. Enter our website and view some of the most stunning creations on the planet.” To me, that means that I’m not their target audience – this site is for people who do have money!

But stunning these creations definitely are. Check out this $1,920 Driftwood Towel Rack. It would look great in my bathroom, would be a wonderful conversation piece, but my kids would try to climb it and I’m sure they’d end up breaking it.

Or this incredible Natural Shell Box. It’s stunning, right? It’s covered with conch, scallop, sea urchin, sponge, starfish and several types of coral. The interior of the box is lined in a creamy suede fabric and features a set in tray. I want this. But I don’t know anybody that would spend $2,985 to buy it for me.

What do you think of the site? It’s fun to look at, but would you purchase any of the pieces?

Actually, both those items look like could easily be DIY projects. Just saying. :)
