Dove Cream Oil Intensive Body Lotion Does the Trick Without Stickiness
I desperately need lotion. My daughter desperately needs lotion. We both have dry, sensitive, eczema-prone skin. We also hate the sticky, thick feeling of regular lotion. It’s bad enough in the summer heat, but to add fall and winter clothing on top of that? Ick.
Cream oil lotions have a good reputation for effectively moisturizing the skin without feeling heavy, and I generally trust Dove products for our sensitive skin. I wasn’t disappointed with the Cream Oil Intensive Body Lotion.
It’s very lightweight but it doesn’t feel as if my skin has soaked it all up and gotten dry again almost immediately like it does with some other products, like jojoba oil. I can get dressed right after putting it on without feeling really uncomfortable or having my clothes stick to me in all the wrong places.
That moisturized feeling lasts all day for me. When I put the lotion on my daughter after her bath, we don’t have too many issues getting her clothes on, either, whereas thicker lotions (we’ve used Aveeno in the past, which is also good, but feels very heavy) would have us tugging on her jeans, readjusting the waistband over and over as it went over her thighs, etc.
Because our skin stays moisturized throughout the day, there’s less itching. We have fewer eczema outbreaks, and if we do get a patch anyway, we’re not so itchy that we scratch and scratch until it expands. The rashes go away more quickly than usual.
The scent is strong and a bit sharper than the classic Dove soap smell, but it’s still very nice and mellows out after a while. It smells very fresh and clean, not perfumey.
I recommend trying it out if your regular lotion isn’t cutting it or it just drives you crazy like it does me. There is also a shea butter option, but I haven’t tried it.
