The Fisher-Price Doodle Pro is one of those classic toys that is often overlooked in favor of flashier modern alternatives. But, there’s a good reason you still see the Doodle Pro on the shelves after all these years. It’s a great toy!
It promotes creativity, it’s easy to use, and it’s made from sturdy material. My son received one as a toddler and still plays with it fairly regularly, almost five years later. Considering how many other toys we’ve gone through in the same time span, the Doodle Pro was a great bargain.
The Doodle Pro is a drawing toy that features a screen, a stylus, and a few shape stampers. In most versions, the stylus is attached to the frame so it can’t be lost and the stampers tuck away inside the base.
The Doodle Pro has gone through many design changes over the years. The Fisher Price website currently shows 31 versions of the toy, including Doodle Pros that feature Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob SquarePants.
You don’t really need to buy a Doodle Pro with your kid’s favorite cartoon character on it. If you can find a classic Doodle Pro at a garage sale, that will work just fine. In fact, I suspect the classic Doodle Pro would get more use because many kids see toys with cartoon characters on them as “fads” and thus find them less amusing over the long haul.
The travel size Doodle Pro is a great idea, however, if you’re in need of something to keep your child occupied on long car trips and don’t have the storage space in your vehicle for a full size Doodle Pro.
Does your child have a Doodle Pro? If so, please share your thoughts!
