I love reading and there’s nothing I love more than buying children’s books. So, it’s not surprising that my son has a very impressive library for a seven-year-old boy.
His room is a bit tiny, however, so we’ve been cleaning and rearranging to make room for new things over the past few weeks. In addition to planning for a summer garage sale, we’ve been looking at ways to better organize the items we already have.
While looking for children’s bookcases, I found this lovely dollhouse bookcase on the Kitchen Source website. I’ve seen dollhouse style bookcases in the past, but this one caught my eye because of its simplicity. With the white paint and the yellow trim, it would blend well into any room décor.
It’s not too feminine for boy who wants a place to store his books and play with his superhero action figures. It’s not too babyish for a little girl approaching the preteen years who only plays with her dolls on occasion. In fact, I wouldn’t mind getting one to stick in our living room for the collection of Shel Silverstein books our whole family enjoys. I think it would be a whimsical addition to our already eclectic room décor.
The shelves of this bookcase look high enough to accommodate the awkwardly sized picture books that we currently have problems storing. It says in the product description that you can use the shelves for storing toys and trinkets too, but I’d personally stick those types of items in some kind of basket before adding them to the shelf.
What do you think of this bookcase? Is this an item you’d buy for your child’s room? Have you seen similar styles of bookcases elsewhere?
