As a parent, I love toys that promote both creativity and active play. My son is very creative, but requires a little more coaxing when it comes to playing outside and getting moving. He doesn’t like organized sports, but does enjoy informal activities like a good game of frisbee.
I know he’d love these create your own flying discs from Discount School Supply since we typically end up purchasing five or six discs at the dollar store each summer for him to play with in the back yard and he often ends up decorating them with stickers or markers after the regular design starts to fade off.
If you have a child with a summer birthday or are planning to attend a family reunion with lots of little kids, I can see this being a fun group activity for everyone. The price of the discs is very reasonable. Even if you have to purchase a pack of markers for the project, you’re still paying around $1 per child.
Reviewers of this product do say the discs are a little small, so I’d recommend purchasing them for younger children or planning some games the kids can play accordingly.
One cute game I’ve seen kids try to play with the mini discs is to send them flying into a large cooler or plastic bucket. This is also a good way to get younger children moving, since they typically find it hard to play catch with the regular sized frisbees.
What do you think of the idea of decorating your own flying discs? Is this an activity your kids would like to do at a summer party?
