I am so happy that owls are a trendy design motif at the moment! Products like these retro inspired bookends from Target make me smile whenever I look at them.
I think these would be great to use as bookends in a child’s room since they are not as formal looking as most of the bookends I’ve seen. If you have a newborn, you could actually use them as the basis for your nursery decor.
The bookends are part of Target’s Skip Hop Treetop Friends Collection, which features the same whimsical look for nursery bedding and room accessories. It’s a fairly neutral looking collection too, which would make it a good choice if you’re not finding out the sex of your baby or you want to keep your options open for passing down items from one child to the next.
Another thing I like about the Skip Hop Treetop Friends Collection is that it could easily grow with your child once he or she is out of the “baby” stage. By making a few minor changes, you’d have room suitable for a toddler or preschooler. The nursery set I choose when my son was born was very babyish and ended up being replaced pretty quickly. Buying nursery decor with the long term value in mind would have been a smarter choice.
Unfortunately, the Skip Hop Treetop Friends Collection is only sold on the Target website and not available in stores. However, you can return online purchases to your nearest Target store if you order an item and find that you are not satisfied.
What do you think of the Skip Hop Treetop Friends Collection? Would you ever consider decorating your nursery with an owl motif?
