Recently, my husband and I had a garage sale to get rid of some of toys and clothing our son had outgrown. While we did make a little bit of extra spending cash, I’m not entirely sure the process was worth the effort.
After all the cleaning, sorting, labeling, setting up, and tearing down, we made just a few dollars an hour for our time. If there was a Children’s Orchard store near me, this would have been a much more convenient alternative.
Children’s Orchard is a line of upscale-resale stores that buy and sell children’s clothing, toys, and accessories. You can sell your child’s outgrown things to the store, then take either cash or use store credit to get the items your son or daughter currently needs.
Depending upon your spending habits, this can easily save you between 25% and 50% off regular retail prices. All of the items for sale have been screened to make sure they are safe and of high quality. Much of the clothing is from name-brand designers.
And, since the store focuses just on items for kids, you don’t have to spend all day visiting every garage sale in a 40 mile radius in the hopes of finding someone who is selling the stuff you need.
As far as I’m concerned, any idea that makes it quick and easy for moms to save money is a winner. I also like that Children’s Orchard stores let you choose to donate whatever items they can’t accept to charity. The store will even provide you with a receipt for tax purposes.
Look online to see if there’s a Children’s Orchard near you.
