Charley Harper Flashcards and Floor Puzzles
I grew up with somewhat of a flashcard addiction. There was something satisfying about seeing how fast I could get through a set of flashcards correctly. (Yes, this is indeed a display of Type-A personality at its best).
My kids love flashcards, too. We’ve just about finished up sight word flashcards with both kids as they’re accomplished readers now, but my son is starting to learn multiplication in second grade, so I see some math ones in our near future.
What’s even cooler to me than flashcards, though, are flashcards with a dual purpose – like these Charley Harper Flashcards and Floor Puzzles from Rare Device. It’s two, two, two toys in one!
The front side of these flashcards are the good old ABCs, with a modern twist and beautiful illustrations from wildlife artist Charley Harper.
Flip the flashcards over, and they tile together to form a large floor puzzle.
I think children will love the colorful puzzle on the back that’s just overflowing with animals.
Each of the cards measures 8×4, so they’re small enough to take in the car or as a great vacation-travel item for downtime in a hotel room with amped-up preschoolers. (Just don’t let any of these disappear under the hotel bed).
Another fun idea is to buy a set of these and leave them at Grandma’s or hide them for when the babysitter comes – it’s a novel activity that’ll keep kids really entertained.
You can see more of the Charley Harper Flashcards and Floor Puzzles, priced at $14.95, over at Rare Device.
