Cascadian Organic Cereals Are a Good Alternative to the Sugary Ones Kids Love
Cascadian Organic cereals are the new compromise around my house. I’m shocked that they’re working because my daughter loves her sugary cereals.
She actually asks for the Chocolate O’s and Cinnamon Crunch cereals specifically now, to eat dry as an afternoon snack or with milk in the mornings. They must be close enough in flavor to those other sugar-loaded options to still be considered delicious, even by a kid who loves her Frosted Flakes and Fruity Pebbles.
What I like about these two flavors (the only two we’ve tried) is that they’re organic, whole grain, and only have eight grams of sugar per ¾ cup. They’re not perfect (there are still ingredients I’m not thrilled with, like soy lecithin and caramel color), but it’s as close to perfect as we’re going to get in a compromise like this.
I love that these are healthier, organic alternatives to some of the other popular cereals on the market that catch everyone’s eye, not just the kids’. I haven’t done a side-by-side comparison, but I bet there’s a whole lot less sugar in this brand’s version of Raisin Bran than the others.
Other types of cereal from this brand are:
- Multi Grain Squares
- Hearty Morning®
- Honey Nut O’s
- Fruitful O’s
- Purely O’s
I find it kind of odd that not all the cereals come in the same sizes (they range from 9 oz to 15 oz). Maybe that’s pretty typical and I’ve just never noticed. If I hadn’t decided to write this review, I probably never would have noticed it in this brand.
