Camelbak Kids Sippy Bottle Review

by admin on January 14, 2010

Camelbak, which is best known for its adult-sized water bottles and hydration packs, now has a model for kids. The Camelbak Kids’ Bottle features the same “big bite” valve that dispenses the water when you bite down on it.

I have found that this “big bite” valve is really intuitive for most kids to use.

Unlike other sippy cups which can easily leak, The Camelbak Kids Bottle keeps the liquid inside. The cap flips open at the touch of a button, making it easy for little hands to operate.

This also has a simplified stem and straw, so there are fewer pieces to keep track of and clean.

The Camelbak Kids Bottle is 12 oz and comes in lots of fun kid designs. Importantly, it is also BPA and pthalate free. The CamelBak Kids’ Bottle is made from a copolyester polymer called Tritan™, made by the Eastman Company. Tritan is 100% BPA-free and phthalate-free, with durability, clarity and stain-resistance to withstand whatever kids dish out.

There is also a stainless steel model that looks great too.

Camelbak has thoroughly tested both the Tritan plastic as well as the stainless steel and found no evidence of harmful chemicals leaching.

If you currently own an adult sized Camelbak Better Bottle, it does meet the most stringent child safety requirements. However, there are concerns about potential choking hazards of the removable bite valve on the original Better Bottle, and it is not recommended for children under five.

The Camelbak Kids Bottle features a kids’-specific bite valve and stem design made from a single piece of medical grade silicone. This one-piece construction prevents a child from pulling the bite valve off accidentally, but makes it easy for a parent to remove and place in the dishwasher for cleaning
