Build A Dream Playhouses: Your Kids Are Going To Love This!

Quick! What is one thing all kids love? Okay, besides junk food, what is another thing all kids love? Yep, cardboard boxes. They’d rather play with the boxes than whatever toys the boxes contain. Which is why it’s true when you hear “Why buy the toys? They’d rather have the box instead!” And that’s why I think Build a Dream Playhouses is worth checking out.

Build a Dream Playhouses takes regular, everyday cardboard and makes it into fantastic creations guaranteed to make your child squeal with delight!

Have a budding chef in your midst? Check out the Pop N’ Play Kitchen.

pop-n-play-kitchenMy kids would LOVE this! Each Build A Dream Playhouse comes flat and completely blank; what you see in the picture above has been colored or painted on (photo from the Build A Dream Playhouse website). So there will be no color at all. This allows your child to make it their own, or if you are crafty, you could turn it into a dream kitchen for them!

And no worries if you aren’t crafty or have a hard time putting things together, Build A Dream has a video for each playhouse they make on how to put it together. So you won’t be left trying to figure it all out yourself! From reviews I’ve read, each different playhouse seems pretty easy and straight forward to put together, within about 10 minutes or so.

Not only does Build A Dream encourage imaginative play, so important to a young child’s development, but all of their products are made from 80% recycled materials, and each dreamhouse is 100% recycleable! On top of that, they donate playhouses to hospitals and schools for children to play with too! Did I mention that shipping is free?

Prices range from about $40 – $70. Reasonable for a cardboard box? I guess that would depend on how long it lasts! Reviews I’ve read seem to be in favor of the product and the price. I guess maybe I would be willing to check one out!

My only questions would be how long will it last? How sturdy is it really?

Would you pay $40 – $70 for a cardboard box?

Maybe a young mom with a lot of energy might enjoy painting this with her child; but the age range that would play with this (between 3 and 5) won’t be able to “decorate” it with any semblance of skill — either leaving them frustrated it doesn’t look “right” or so randomly scribbled on that it doesn’t resemble the described product much.

Might be great for an artistic and crafty 7 or 8 year old, though.

I did such a thing myself. I had a large air condition box, I cut holes here and there, and we crayoned it. My kids loved it. If you feel like wasting that kind of money on something that will tear, go ahead. Otherwise, why dont you ask your local dress store for a large box, and do it yourself. Even an egg box is large enough for little ones to sit into, making a ‘wagon’ or ‘train’.

I LOVE that kitchen set! It would be awesome if you could order it just like it’s pictured above. Love.

These are adorable! I have also seen ones like this that the kids can color on themselves which is also a fun idea. My kids would love one of these!
