I have an abnormal fondness for kitchen gadgets, which is a problem because I have a really tiny kitchen. But, I do have to say that the Bella mini donut maker was well worth the $19.99 price tag.
Everyone in my family loves donuts, especially when they are decorated with colorful sprinkles. This mini donut maker makes it easy to create cute baked donuts that are healthier than the fried donuts I used to buy from the local gas station. It comes with a recipe book, but there are also several online recipes for baked donuts that you can try.
When making donuts, you need to remember to mix the batter well to avoid any icky clumps in your donuts. It’s also important to make sure you don’t fill the individual holes too full, otherwise you end up with a giant mess of overflowing donut batter.
Making the donuts isn’t difficult, but it is time consuming. Since the donut maker only makes seven small donuts at a time, I need to run it two or three times to get enough to feed my entire family.
I hate getting up early in the morning, so this is a weekend-only breakfast treat at my house. However, if I’m in the mood for something fun, we will sometimes make donuts during the week as part of a breakfast for dinner night.
The donut maker would be a fun way to get older children involved in cooking and baking. I don’t quite trust my son around hot appliances yet, but he does enjoy decorating the mini donuts this machine makes.
