Baby Bum Drops: A Natural Alternative to a Clean Baby Bottom

Changing diapers is now a distant memory for me, thank goodness.

I think about the hundreds and hundreds of dollars we spent on baby wipes. I was not one to be stingy on the wipe front, by the way. If I needed 100 of those suckers to clean up the mess of a major diaper blowout, I’d use 100.

I realize that was not the best thing for our planet. I’m going to chalk it up to ignorance and sleep deprivation.

With the burgeoning trend in making baby products more eco-friendly, these Baby Bum Drops are a welcome solution to the waste that comes with diaper changing.

Baby Bum Drops are a liquid that, when combined with water, make for a naturally-based diaper wipe solution.

You put 1 Baby Bum Drop into a bowl and pour one cup of hot water over it. Cover your diaper wipe material with the solution or put it into a spray bottle if you’re using something like a washable cloth.

One $12 bottle makes about 50 cups of wipe solution, so it’s definitely an economical choice.

It’s made with organic calendula blossoms, aloe vera, glycerin soap base, and the essential oils of lavender and mandarin, along with tea tree oil for its antibacterial properties. It’s free of allergy-causing fragrances and chemicals.

This is a perfect product for someone who is cloth diapering and already concerned about environmental impact or for someone who is looking for a low-cost alternative to manufactured baby wipes.

Baby Bum Drops are part of a natural baby skin care line that can be purchased at Natural Family Botanicals.

Thank you so much for finding this! As a cloth-diapering-momma, I’m constantly on the search for something that will clean Baby L’s bum, smell good, not cause buildup in my diapers, and that is cost-effective! It’s not as easy as one might think, but this sounds like a great product.

This is an interesting product. Sounds a bit messy, but the idea is it’s a natural soap mixture rather than a chemical-based wipe, right? You’d have to have it prepared ahead of time and be an organized mommy.

I’m not giving up my wipes, even if it means clogging up the world but good. Honestly I’d rather have major brands packaging in sustainable material than me giving up wipes to save the planet. As a mother who sometimes still helps my three year old, I can only bless the creator of wipes and continue using lots of them.

    To Henny Ort:

Why so hostile ? No one is trying to ban disposable wipes ! I happened across this site because we use a combination of cloth diapers (at home) and disposables when we are out and about. When we’re out, we also use disposable wipes, but at home we’re looking for a ‘formula’ for a natural solution to wipe out little buddy’s butt with, which is how I found this site.

It would be nice if more people at least tried to do a combination of disposable and re-usable products.

@ Joseph: It doesn’t seem like Henny Ort was being hostile at all. She was just stating her opinion. Maybe you’re one of those men who don’t think women should be “too opinionated” or speak too much. Are you over the age of 40? Because it seems the older men are, the more antiquated and bigoted their views are. My point is the problem is yours – not hers.
