I don’t wear lipstick very often, but I do like to use a tinted lip balm to give my lips a bit of color. Unfortunately, I can’t use anything expensive because I have a terrible habit of misplacing my lip balm whenever I leave the house and my budget doesn’t allow for me to be spending $20 or more on makeup each week.
My favorite budget-friendly tinted lip balm is Avon’s Slick Tint for Lips. It’s regularly priced at 99 cents and goes on sale quite often. Since it’s so cheap, I have one in my makeup bag, one in my purse, one in my car, and one in my office. If I somehow manage to lose one, I just grab another from my stash.
It goes on smooth and feels light instead of sticky. The color seems to last a fairly long time too, which is a plus because many of the tinted lip balms I’ve tried won’t last more than an hour for me.
The only downside to this product is that there are just three color choices: Glossy Wine, Glossy Rose, and Glossy Opal. Glossy Wine is my favorite, but all of them are flattering with my light complexion. I have friends with darker complexions who’ve tried these colors too, so I think they are made to work with a range of skin tones.
If you have a preteen daughter at home, I think this would be a great way to satisfy a young girl’s urge to experiment with makeup without having to spend a lot of money or risk having her leave the house looking like a prostitute. It doesn’t come in fun flavors like many of the lip glosses for the preteen set, but she could always layer the two together.
