Astronaut Backpack

Astronaut Backpack

If your children have grown up during the Toy Story era, then you know that a boy is either Team Buzz or Team Woody, and rarely the twain shall meet.

We were a Team Buzz house. Woody was cast off quickly in favor of Buzz’s fancy lasers, jet pack, moon suit and more. The Buzz fascination went on for many years, and it was one of the few licensed-character obsessions that didn’t get on my last nerve (Disney princesses? They’re another story).

I smiled and chuckled a bit when I saw this Astronaut Backpack from Aeromax, because it’s just the kind of item that my son would have gone crazy for.

The difference is that this backpack actually looks much more like NASA gear than Buzz gear. It’s pretty realistic looking. It’s designed to hold the matching astronaut suit and boots, so that when fully outfitted, your kid looks like this:

The top compartment of the backpack holds the astronaut suit or boots; the bottom compartment zips open from the front and holds a space helmet. There are pockets on the exterior sides for tools and stuff.

But you know as well as I do that this backpack is not going to hold a space suit. It’s going to become the secret repository for all things interplanetary in your little boy’s life.

I don’t know that this would make a great school backpack – it’s not really designed to be – but I do think it’s a terrific pretend play item, and probably not a bad case for kids to take on sleepovers.

The Astronaut Backpack itself, with the space suit, is $37.95 and you can purchase it from Aeromax. It’s important to note that the boots and gloves are sold separately for $24.95 and $15.95 respectively.

That’s pretty rad! Expensive for a Halloween costume, perhaps, but if your kid likes to dress up, this looks really well done. Authentic looking, if I were a little boy, I’d so want this!!
