Artek Children’s Furniture
Modern design for kids may seem like an oxymoron, but for a playroom (or bedroom even), modern design is so inviting – clean, easy and fun to use. That’s why I’m so excited that Artek, a Finnish design company, is now promoting a line of their classic award-winning pieces for kids!
As one of the most innovative contributors to modern design, Artek can be used in many types of spaces – think bedroom, playroom, even bathroom. It’s because designer Alvar Aalto makes things that are versatile and yet beautiful.
Like the stool…can’t you just see this stool as a table for the toddler who hates to sit still, or a bedside table, or a foot stool in the bathroom (to sit on and wash the little kiddos), how about in the living room as a coffee table when the little ones are no longer little? So, a small toddler table can be transformed (with longer legs) into a play table and then a homework table through the years.
And that’s why we here at Smart Mom Picks think that Artek is something worth looking into (and FYI, we are not getting paid to say any of this…we simply love good design! Smart Mom Picks is all about full disclosure). OK, so the furniture is expensive, especially for kids furniture. BUT, aside from being so great to look at, the furniture can grow with you child. Longevity IS one of the tenants of sustainable living, isn’t it?
