A Sweet Story for Little Animal Lovers
If your child enjoys stories about children and their pets, Muddypaws’ New Friends is sure to be a hit.
Muddypaws’ New Friends, written by Steve Smallman and illustrated by Simon Mendez, tells the story of Muddypaws and his trip to puppy school. Muddypaws is sad when his owner Ben goes off to school. One day, Ben announces they are taking Muddypaws to puppy school. He meets new friends Patch and Droopy as they learn how to sit and fetch together.
The Muddypaws story reminded me of the Biscuit books my son loved during his toddler years. I think at one point we owned every single Alyssa Satin Capucilli story written. The stories were cute, but I always found the repetitious text a little annoying. How many times can Mommy say “Woof! Woof!” without losing her mind?
Muddypaws will appeal to fans of Biscuit, but the text reads more naturally. This is a book you won’t mind having to read to your child night after night. Muddypaws’ New Friends is only 32 pages long, so it’s not something that will take more than 10 or 15 minutes to read to your child. The text is printed in a large and easy to read font, so it would be a good book for teaching older children to read independently.
If your child enjoys Muddypaws’ New Friends, other books in the series include:
- Muddypaws and the Birthday Cake
- Muddypaws Goes to School
