When you get invited to a baby shower, what type of gifts do you like to give? Personally, I’ve never been a huge fan of baby clothes as a gift. Every new mom I’ve met has ended up with many more clothes for their newborn than they can realistically use.

I’ve done diaper cakes and diaper wreaths before, but both can be kind of time consuming and aren’t really too practical for a last minute gift.

Books tend to be my fallback gift for these types of occasions.

I’ve recently noticed that there are many cute toys designed to accompany popular children’s books. I love the look of this whimsical pull along toy created to look like the caterpillar from Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar. The bright colors are perfect for both boys and girls and the toy itself would make an adorable nursery decoration when baby isn’t playing with it.

I’m actually hoping I get invited to another baby shower soon so I have an excuse to buy this cute little caterpillar!

The wooden caterpillar measures 11 inches long and has felt antennas that are soft to the touch. The body segments twist and turn to give young children added play value.

When reading through reviews of this toy online, I noticed several people complained that they thought the string was too short. Some mentioned tying on a longer string to make it easier to pull. I would not recommend this, however. The string is short to avoid presenting a safety hazard for young children.
